Mobile Phones and Trackers

Mobile Phones

Children are not allowed to bring mobile phones onto the school site without explicit permission from their parents. We ask that this permission isn't given unless there is a good reason for it and we require one of our permission forms to be completed.

There is no need for a child to have their mobile phone in school if they are being dropped off and met by other family members unless they are moving between two households.

Where a child has permission to bring their mobile phone onto school premises:

They must be switched off at the school gates and left off while on school premises. If a child needs to make contact with their parents for any reason, they can come to the school office.

They must be handed in to the class teacher as soon as they arrive in class. They will be locked away during the school day.

They are brought onto site at the risk of the owner. We don't take responsibility for damage, breakage or theft, even when it is in our care in the locker.

Internet Enabled Devices including smart watches, Kindles, iPads etc.

Children are not allowed to wear more expensive smart watches such as Apple watches or any other wearable devices that can access the internet. Nor are they allowed, except with prior permission, to bring in Kindles, iPads or other smart and internet enabled devices.

Steps Trackers and Basic Smart Watches

We prefer that smart watches like 'fit bits' are not worn in school, mainly because of the risk of damage or loss. If you give permission for your child to wear one, it is worn at the risk of the owner. School takes no responsibility should it be broken, damaged, lost or stolen. As outlined in our uniform policy, all watches, including steps trackers, have to be taken off during PE lessons to remove the possibility of them snagging on pieces of equipment.

Trackers Such As Air Tags

No tracking devices such as AirTags or SmartTags should be carried by children or put in their bags on school trips or residential trips.
